Why Us
Fire protection systems only matter if they work when needed, and inspectors expect the paperwork to prove it. Here is what to expect from each visit.

Questions
Annual sprinkler inspections must fall no less than 9 and no more than 15 months apart. Service is also due when a sprinkler is leaking, corroded, or painted over, when stock is piled too close to heads, or when a riser or control valve is blocked. A kitchen hood suppression system needs service every 6 months, which connects to restaurant equipment repair.
The request is reviewed and scheduled, and the fire department and alarm monitoring company are told before any test so nothing triggers a false alarm. The inspector checks the system and documents the result. In Georgia, a passing system gets a green tag, a yellow tag means out of compliance, and red means impaired. The owner forwards non-compliant reports to the fire authority and keeps records for three years.
The number of systems and risers sets the scope. Leaking, damaged, or painted-over sprinklers must be replaced, not cleaned, and a system out of service more than 10 hours in a day may need a fire watch. One Georgia city’s August 2023 bid sheet listed $75 an hour per inspector and $800 per fire pump test, as a single data point.
NFPA 25 runs from weekly and monthly visual checks to quarterly, annual, three-year, and five-year tests, and main drains are tested yearly. Main drains are tested quarterly where the system is fed through a backflow preventer, a point where commercial plumbing meets fire protection. A 2010 edition of NFPA 72 called for yearly testing of detectors and pull stations. OSHA wants extinguishers checked monthly and serviced yearly. A written calendar under preventive maintenance keeps each interval from slipping.
NFPA 25 calls for measures such as a fire watch, evacuating the area, or a temporary water supply once a system is out of service more than 10 hours in 24. A frozen or ruptured pipe is an emergency impairment to fix as quickly as possible. Heated buildings rely on heating to protect sprinkler pipe, so a failure in commercial HVAC equipment can put the sprinklers at risk.
