Why Us
Electrical work in an occupied building has to be safe for the people inside it. Here is what to expect from each visit.

Questions
Lights that flicker or dim often, breakers that trip repeatedly, and outlet or switch plates that feel hot or look discolored all call for a qualified electrician. Darkening around a cover plate points to heat building up at a connection. Panels with stored items in front of them or unlabeled breakers are also red flags, because OSHA requires clear working space and legible labels.
An electrical request is reviewed for scope, location, and urgency first, and approved work is quoted before anyone is scheduled. The electrician is dispatched, and the repair or installation is carried out and documented. Standby generators, for example, call for a written record of each inspection, test, and repair, which fits a preventive maintenance schedule. You review the work, then receive the invoice.
Scope and equipment drive the price. One cost guide, Housecall Pro’s 2026 electrician prices, lists $50 to $130 an hour for residential and light commercial work and says commercial rates are typically higher. A lighting retrofit can cut lighting energy by 20 to 60 percent, according to the Department of Energy, with payback of about 6 to 9 years in one federal field study, so it belongs in a capital plan under facility management.
NFPA 110 calls for a weekly inspection and a monthly exercise run of at least 30 minutes, carrying at least 30 percent of the generator’s rated load. Transfer switches are operated monthly and checked for loose connections and overheating. A generator that cannot reach that load needs an annual load-bank test. NFPA 110 also requires a written maintenance schedule, which maintenance programs are built around.
It depends on the scope and the building. Routine tests are short: emergency lights get a 30-second test every month and a 90-minute test once a year, and a monthly generator run lasts at least 30 minutes. Those checks are part of the life safety side of fire sprinkler inspection. Installations and retrofits are scheduled around the building’s hours and the equipment involved.
